    Default Harlingen vs. Harlingen South

This one should be for the third and fourth spots as LF is basically out with Hanna and SB coming up.

I saw South vs. San Benito two weeks ago and I do not think South has what it takes to beat Harlingen...even with the way Harlingen is performing.

    I say Harlingen by ten.

While I want to agree with you I’m a little tentative. South put together some decent drives against SB but just couldn’t finish them off. Defensively they held SB to field goals most of the first half. I think this will be a tight game.

On that note, does it matter who wins as far as playoff seeding is concerned? Hanna and SB will be the #1 seed in each division with South and HHS the #2’s. Or am I wrong?

    That sounds right.

    The enrollment numbers would help...

It seems the Hawks are better on paper and they do have a 2-1 record in district and the Cards 1-2.
Bird Bowl Victory will be sweet for either team.

On another sad aspect to point out (noticed this for quite sometime), why do the coaches allow Galvan to run with the ball in one hand? Noticed Mann running with the ball the same way.

Ball Security 101? Nah...ball security is a complicated part of the game.

    Is that largely set?

If so, I'll start lighting some candles for Harlingen AND reading my Lord Gomez bible.

    Their 2-1 vs our 1-2

I think it's safe to say that we'd be 2-1 if we had their schedule and them 1-2 w/ ours. Should be a tight game to the end.

    2x - 5A Regional Finalists ('89 & '11)
    12x - 5A/6A Regional Semifinalists ('88, '89, '94, '96, '97, '03, '05, '08, '09, '10, '11, '15)
31x - Consecutive regular season game winning streak ('08-'11) *RGV 5A record
    38x - District Champions
40x - Playoff trips *RGV record

    BOTA- Cardinals lead 62-24-5
    Bird Bowl- Cardinals lead 22-4

I hope its a good game, but Harlingen's leaders have proven they are not capable of making adjustments or developing adequate systems. Not to mention some of the players poor execution.

Gimmick offenses do not work unless you have superior talent. Harlingen does not have superior talent. If they play, you'll see.

    Still, I BBBBBBEEEEELLLLIIIEEEVVVVEEEE!

I think it's going to be:

    South vs. Vela
    Harlingen vs. Weslaco
    Hanna vs. East
    San Benito vs. Edinburg

If that holds, I say it will be a 2-2 split.

100% Vela beats South - too many athletes.

95% San Benito beats Edinburg - good systems with enough play makers to make the difference.

90% Hanna beats East - percentage could be a LOT lower, but Hanna is on a roll. The way they shut down a run oriented SB was impressive. However, East plays very good on defense and IF they can dictate the game with their long drives (with points scored), they have a great chance.

90% Weslaco beats Harlingen - percentage could be higher. Weslaco has good systems in place, better coaching. Harlingen, player wise, is not executing.

    Have at it.

Sound's good...even the rain cancellation of the east Hanna nondistrict game doesn't look like it will prevent this clash. That being said it will all be determined by the east vela game.I give east a good shot against the sabercats.if that's the case vela and Hanna rematch after a very controversial game.

Looks good! I don’t know enough about Edinburg to say I’m 95% sure they will win...

And I think Harlingen might find a way to make it competitive

That and good execution. In the end, if Harlingen plays a good game (eliminates stupid penalties, EXECUTES, etc) and still comes up short, I can live with it. I just want to see quality football.

It would have been very interesting had that game been played.

Harlingen will finally get their opportunity vs. Judson
