Rgv Athletes representing very well at the regional meet, already have a good bunch headed to state at the 5A/6A level, also wanted to give a shout out to the Weslaco high girls who will be headed to state in the 4x400 relay coming in 2nd behind regional champs Converse judson with a time of 3:50.07 setting a new PR and a valley best record out there today.. must have been awesome to see, they had already broken 2 valley records in the relays that stood since the early 80's yesterday at the prelims, hard work pays off, congrats to the lady panther girls and Coach Almaguer..

Checking-in from Austin! I've been able to watch every single event from on the field here at the state meet. Edinburg Vela boys with a big showing on Friday, Brenden Vela WINS GOLD on the 5A High jump, then Reagan Olguin takes bronze in the 800m run and positions Edinburg Vela in a tie for 5th place overall at state. Unfortunately, Vela's 4x200m and 4x400m relays did nothing and no other points were gained.
Monie from Pioneer with bronze in 5a discus and GOLD in shotput. Rio Hondo's Michael Zuniga (junior) with silver in 4a shotput. Lyford's Polanco takes silver in her 1600m run and has the 800m on Saturday. PI'S MURCHISON 3-PEATS AS STATE CHAMPION In THE SHOTPUT. Castillo from Donna finished 3rd in the 300m hurdles and scratched in the 110m hurdles. After the race Castillo talked about how he hopes the Valley hurdle legacy continues and said RGV has some great athletes

Much more to come on Saturday as all the 6a events get underway. So far, a great showing for the RGV and more to come!
